Chinese police in national hunt for two DVD pirates

Updated: 2006-07-20 19:55

China's Ministry of Public Security has issued nationwide arrest warrants for two people wanted in connection with buying and selling pirated DVDs.

Police in North China's Tianjin Municipality seized 180,000 pirated DVDs and have accused Sun Xuemei and Zhang Li of buying the DVDs in southern China's Guangdong Province and attempting to sell them in Tianjin.

Police describe Sun Xuemei, as a 29 year-old woman who is 160 centimeters tall, with short hair. Her registered residence is Tiantai Road, Hebei District, Tianjin Municipality.

Police say the other suspect is Zhang Li, male, 32, who is 172 centimeters tall, with a crew-cut haircut. His registered residence is Wujiayao Road, Heping District, Tianjin Municipality.

Police have also released the identification numbers of the two suspects who they say speak with a Tianjin accent.

The ministry is appealing to the public for any information on the suspects' whereabouts and have offered a 10,000-yuan reward for information leading to their arrest.
